It's Not Too Late to Stop ROE 8!

Autumn/Winter Cockatoo Survey-Volunteers Required

The first of the autumn / winter season cockatoo roost surveys will be held on the Murdoch South Street Campus this Sunday 6th May from 5.15- 6.30pm.

The surveys will be undertaken each month until August (dates to be announced).

Multiple volunteers are needed to help carry out the sunset surveys of cockatoo roost sites.

Cockatoos roost on the South Street campus year round, an unusual behaviour on the Swan Coastal Plain. Murdoch has been conducting independent autumn / winter roost surveys of cockatoos since 2007. This gives us a rich source of data to guide campus planning and habitat protection strategies. The data is also used to inform State and Federal governments on the status of these endangered species.

If you are interested in volunteering to assist with any or all of the surveys, have a specific site or would like to be allocated a site on campus to survey for both Carnaby's and Forest Red Tailed Black Cockatoos, please contact the Sustainability Officer, Leah Knapp at L.knapp@murdoch.edu.au or 9360 6361 by COB Friday 4th May.
